Local Health System

The Universal Health Care (UHC) legislation is a groundbreaking stride in reforming the Philippine health sector, addressing critical gaps and ensuring comprehensive, equitable, and quality healthcare for all Filipinos. It stands as a safeguard against health-related financial burdens and necessitates a united, collaborative effort involving both the public and private sectors, guided by effective public health leadership.

In this transformative landscape, the Zuellig Family Foundation, with its proven track record in public health leadership and governance, emerges as a pivotal force. Drawing on organizational expertise and inspired by successful collaborations with local governments, ZFF has strategically established the Local Health System (LHS) unit. This unit is dedicated to supporting UHC pilot implementations in selected Department of Health (DOH) sites, enhancing primary care services in partner areas.

ZFF’s commitment is exemplified through two dynamic programs: the Provincial Leadership and Governance Program 4 (PLGP 4), a pilot initiative in Agusan del Sur and Aklan provinces, and the Bayang Malusog: Leadership Development Program (LDP for UHC). The latter is implemented in collaboration with the Department of Health’s Centers for Health Development (DOH-CHD) across regions, including Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Eastern Visayas, and CALABARZON.

This strategic alliance between ZFF and key stakeholders underscores the urgency and significance of implementing UHC. It signifies a collective commitment to revolutionize healthcare accessibility, strengthen governance, and propel the nation towards a healthier, more resilient future.
